Those studies were the stepping stone for the development of a series of hypotensive substances much used today in medical practice. Is also known internationally for his contribution in the area of anti inflammatory painkillers.

He was an engineer and mathematician, famous for the theorem that carries his name, and solves the problem of the stability of the equilibrium in non lineal differential functions, in terms of the Lyapunov function. His findings, published in 1949 in the famous Annals of Mathematics, have been and are today of frequent use by mathematicians, physicists, chemists, economists, electro-technical engineers and industrial chemists.
