Is one of the most recognized experts in the world on catalytic processes applied to the solution of problems related to the manufacture of synthetic gasolines and also, to the production of raw materials for the synthesis of synthetic fibers. He is also known for the development of processes that lessen combustion produced by automobile engines that use gasoline with high alcohol contents, thus these processes help reduce environmental pollution.

Was first to offer proof that stable systems exist in any configuration space (any n dimensional surface), a fundamental breakthrough in modern mathematics. He also formulated the famous Stability and -Stability conjectures that accurately characterize stable dynamical systems. In the decades of the seventies and eighties, he developed a coherent group of ideas, problems and conjectures, pointing to a global theory of chaotic dynamical behavior, based on his own work and that of his students and collaborators.
