He especially contributed to theoretical physics, in particular to the invention of the method denominated Dimensional Regulation, the basis of the modern quantum theory of fields that describes the fundamental forces of the universe. Giambiagi inspired and formed a great number of Latin American scientists, and was the leader of the most important group of researchers in physics in Latin America.
